Learning Journey
Learning any type of dance takes passion and dedication. But knowing where to start, and where to go once you do can be daunting, and can overwhelm a new dancer. With that in mind, SSDC has come up with a road map of classes, to take the guess work out of getting to where you want to go! Click the class name to find out more!
Tidal Wave
This class is focuses on building stamina and learning body awareness, that will be integral to learning more refined moves later.
Practice
We rely heavily on muscle memory for dance moves, which is even more important in improv settings. This is a time to hone your skills and be able to rely on your body during dance.
Specialty Classes
This are not regular classes, but are usually offered occasionally, to strengthen your dance portfolio. They can focus on floorwork, duet dancing, dialect moves, props (fan veil, sword, etc), and more.
Energy of Movement
The focus of this class is on learning how to move your body, using movements from a number of different dance styles. Ideal for people who have never belly danced before. There is no long term class structure, and no time restrictions or pressure to memorize steps or moves
FCBD Style
FCBD®Style is a fusion dance form. The movements are inspired by folkloric dances of the Middle East, North Africa, Spain, and India. The style is group improv, using a vocabulary of natural movements and cues allowing the dancers to communicate via gesture and eye contact when dancing together. This is a great way to build confidence in your dancing and be able to dance with friends!
Private Lessons
You reach a point where you have taken the classes, learned the basics, you know the steps, and not sure where to go next to elevate your dance to the next level. Private lessons with focus on your specific dance needs to help you reach where you want to go.
